Founded in 1976 by Freddy and Linda Martin and Bob Hoehn, Spirit of Atlanta quickly rose to prominence with a 6th place finish in their second season. One of the South's premier drum corps, known for their Southern jazz and blues influences, the corps achieved an all-time high score of 94.1 in 1986. Spirit returned to World Class finals competition consistently starting in 2023.
